A Technology Independent View of Broadband Access

Don't miss the exclusive HGI Briefing
Implications of FTTx on the Home Gateway This session reviews recently published work of the Home Gateway Initiative in defining requirements for Home Gateways in FTTH architectures. Initially, service providers are selecting a "two-box" model and HGI's documents specify the QoS and management interactions between Home Gateway and NT.
The session also describes new work items within HGI: considering a modular one-box architecture; and architecture and service implications in the home of next generation fiber access.

IIR and the Broadband Forum announce FTTx Summit.
IIR are proud to announce our partnership with the Broadband Forum to develop FTTx Summit into Europe’s premier forum for a technology-neutral view of Next Generation Broadband Access.
For the last two years over 350 senior professionals have attended FTTx Summit to discover how, why and where service providers are investing in fibre in their access networks. Fully supported by the FTTH Council Europe, FTTx Summit delivers high quality and detailed technical and business information, as well as senior level networking.
This year FTTx Summit is set to grow substantially in both significance and size. Hosted by the Broadband Forum - who will ensure that delegates can benefit from the full range and depth of their members' practical knowledge and experience, as well as their independent forecasting resources – the event will provide delegates with a clear view of all of the competing technology business models.
In the light of the current economic climate, operators are re-evaluating their network evolution plans and considering the full range of access options. It’s certainly not all gloom - new opportunities are appearing – for example in the form of government and Europe wide public sector investment initiatives. In a period of uncertainty, it’s often the large scale infrastructure projects that hold up best. So don’t miss your chance to learn about important new opportunities. Take this valuable opportunity to network with the people driving investment and innovation in broadband access across Europe and beyond.
